YONKERS MAN CHARGED IN MOTOR VEHICLE FATALITY.
Victim, 16, died after being hit by van on McLean Avenue.
WHITE PLAINS, NY
— Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced the arraignment of Yonkers resident Stephen Dolan who was charged with leaving the scene of a motor
vehicle incident, which resulted in the death of a 16-year-old.
"Our hearts go out to the victim's family and friends during this time of immeasurable grief,” DA Rocah said. “My office is working closely with the Yonkers Police Department to investigate this case and support the victim’s family.”
As alleged in the felony complaint, on August 3, 2022, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Dolan hit the victim with his van on McLean Avenue in Yonkers and left the scene of the incident. The victim, who was riding an electric scooter at the time of the incident, was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where he died on August 4, 2022. The Yonkers Police Department arrested Dolan on August 4, 2022, following an investigation.
Dolan, 46, who is an employee of the City of Yonkers Department of Public Works, is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident with a Fatality Without Reporting, a felony. The defendant was arraigned on August 5, 2022, in Yonkers City Court, and bail was set.
The case is being prosecuted by Bureau Chief James Bavero of the Trials and Investigations Division.
The charges against the defendant are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
