Westchester Insider: Westchester County District Attorney: BRONX MAN SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS IN STATE PRISON FOR VIOLENT SLASHING IN WHITE PLAINS.

WHITE PLAINS, NY – Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that Bronx resident Edwin Hernandez was sentenced as a second felony offender on August 5, 2022, to seven years in state prison, and five years post-release supervision, for slashing a man in the neck outside the White Plains Galleria in 2019.

On August 18, 2019, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Hernandez approached the victim, who was a stranger, outside the entrance of the White Plains Galleria on Main Street in

White Plains and repeatedly asked him to share his cigarette. After the victim declined, Hernandez slashed the base of the victim’s neck with a sharp object, and walked away.

The victim, who was bleeding, walked into the Galleria and was attended to by employees who called the police. The victim was transported to White Plains Hospital, where he received 29 stiches to close the approximately five-inch laceration to his neck.

The White Plains Police Department arrested Hernandez shortly after the incident on South Lexington Avenue in White Plains.

In May 2022, Hernandez, 44, pled guilty to Assault in the Second Degree, a felony, in Westchester County Court.

The case was before Judge Robert Prisco in Westchester County Court, and was prosecuted by Senior Trial Counsel Brian Bendish of the Trials and Investigations Division.
