Fixing for the Future, County Executive Latimer Announces Jackson Avenue Pumping Station Upgrade.
(White Plains, NY) – When taking office, County Executive George Latimer committed to fixing the County’s aging infrastructure. Now, in a line of projects, Latimer is proud to announce Jackson Avenue Pumping Station Upgrades totaling $10M.
Latimer said: “Facing the threat of future floods, it is imperative that our facilities are built to withstand the weather. This upgrades will both improve function and provide stronger storm resiliency – two key goals to help us serve Westchester residents best.
This project will provide for the rehabilitation and modification of the Jackson Avenue Pumping Station. The work will include the replacement or repair of all structural, architectural, plumbing, HVAC, life safety, electrical, controls, and mechanical equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, bar screens, pumps, piping, valves, gas and fire detection equipment, odor control equipment, conduit and wire, lighting, electrical distribution equipment, emergency generator, control panels, floors, walls windows, and roofs.
Department of Environmental Facilities Commissioner Vincent Kopicki said: “As we have seen time and time again, these historic storms are coming and our facilities must be prepared. I once again thank the County Executive for understanding this need and committing to these vital upgrades.”
The work will also include significant flood hazard mitigation measures including the demolition of the existing structure and rebuilding it higher in order to protect critical infrastructure from flood damage.
