PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 11, 2022
MARCELLO FIGUEROA NAMED BOL LEGISLATIVE DIRECTOR.
White Plains, NY — Marcello Figueroa has joined the Westchester County Board of Legislators as its new Legislative Director, Chairwoman Catherine Borgia announced. Figueroa will be responsible for stewarding County law from ideas, through drafting, the committee process and on to passage, working closely with Board leadership, Legislators, Board staff as well as the County's Law Department and the County Executive’s office. The Yonkers native comes to the Board from the office of State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, where he also served as Legislative Director, working with the Senator to pass significate legislation such as a measure to increase funding for early intervention services for young children with developmental delays and disabilities, and a measure to fund the Firearm Violence Research Institute. A Fordham Law School graduate, Figueroa has also served as an aide to then-Assemblymember, now State Senator Shelly Mayer. Figueroa said, "I thank Chairwoman Borgia for this opportunity to join a dynamic leadership team. When I was working at the State level, we often looked to the Westchester Board of Legislators as an example of leadership in action to support working families, protect public health, preserve our environment, and promote social justice. I'm looking forward to doing everything I can to help our County Legislators build on that legacy." Chairwoman Borgia (D - Cortlandt, Croton on Hudson, Ossining, Briarcliff Manor, Peekskill) said, "I'm so grateful that Marcello has agreed to join us at the Board. His intelligence, energy and fresh ideas, as well as his familiarity with the legislative process through his work at the State level, will be huge assets to us at the Board and to all the people of Westchester who elected us to do the people's work."
