WESTCHESTER COUNTY HOSTS TRAVELING DISPLAY TO CELEBRATE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF WESTCHESTER COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY.


Traveling Exhibit Will Showcase the Evolution of Westchester from Rural Farms to Modern Times.


(White Plains, NY) – As part of the Westchester County Historical Society’s (WCHS) 150th Anniversary Celebration, a traveling WCHS exhibit will be on display in the lobby of Westchester County’s Michaelian Office Building in White Plains from September 11 to September 30.

The exhibit features a digital slideshow of over 100 historical photographs and ephemera from WCHS’ digitized records archive. Each item in the slideshow is meant to showcase the evolution of Westchester. Also on display will be advertisements for dairy farms, photos of the Michaelian Office Building, correspondence from Alexander Graham Bell to Hartsdale’s School for the Deaf, photographs from the Civil War, real estate brochures from throughout the years, a depiction of the ornate 1908 Mourning Tapestry left for a loved one in the old White Plains Cemetery, posters from WWI, the program from when the Trapp Family Singers performed in Westchester in 1955, an invitation to the Donald M. Kendall Sculpture Gardens dedication at PepsiCo and more.
