During the Weekly Westchester Briefing:
· St. John’s Riverside Hospital Behavioral Health Services Senior Director of Clinical Development and Education John Slotwinski to discuss St. John’s Riverside and the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health collaborating on the “Low Threshold Buprenorphine” program, a treatment for opioid addiction. The “low-threshold treatment” prioritizes “medication first” in administering buprenorphine (a medication that reduces the symptoms of opioid addiction). By providing anti-addiction medication at the earliest opportunity, rather than waiting for other treatment steps to be accomplished, research shows that individuals living with addiction can be more adherent and successful in treatment.
· Westchester County Director of Programs and Policies, Childcare & Education Roseanne Finizio will be discussing the Park and Read Program. Park and Read will be on held in various County Parks on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from July 9 through August 15, from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., and feature interactive storytelling sessions in English and Spanish. Seasoned and notable narrators will bring stories to life by creating a vibrant and immersive environment for youngsters 3 to 6 years old and families to enjoy.
