Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As the weather is getting warmer, and we are getting closer to summer, the Westchester County Board of Legislators has had our first meeting of the season with Standard Amusements, the managers of Playland. Here is some of what you can expect in the coming months:
- Playland will again host fireworks, both on holidays and every Saturday starting June 29 through to August.
- There is a new Season Parking Pass, giving access to parking for the entire operating season. The cost is $45 dollars.
- Thursday evenings there will be movies. The cost is $10 dollars.
- Playland will be open seven days a week for the season.
Last year, many of you contacted my office with noise and quality of life issues. As protocol, the email Standard Amusements had set up for the community, info@playland.com, will still be available this coming season. Responses should be expected within 48 hours. For more immediate concerns, there is a phone number at (914) 820-3000 that will be staffed during park operating hours. Furthermore, I have been in talks with the City of Rye, and I am pleased to report that there are plans to reinstate the Rye Playland Advisory Committee, which should help the public further connect with Playland management on these quality of life issues.
It was a lengthy conversation with Standard Amusements covering a wide range of topics pertinent to our community, but for anyone interested, https://westchestercountyny.granicus.com/player/clip/7013?view_id=1&redirect=true to watch the meeting in full.
Wishing you a wonderful Memorial Day weekend,
Catherine F. Parker
Legislator, 7th District
