MOUNT KISCO MAN SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS IN PRISON FOR DEADLY STABBING OF HOUSEMATE.

Defendant, who was friends with the victim, stabbed him four times following a verbal and physical altercation.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced today that a Mount Kisco man was sentenced to 18 years in state prison after pleading guilty to fatally stabbing his housemate, 36-year-old Rey David Esquivel Lemus, with a kitchen knife.

DA Rocah said: “Today’s sentence holds the defendant accountable for his brazen act of violence that took the life of his friend and housemate. We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Lemus’s family who grieve this senseless loss.”

The defendant, Oscar Manolo Morales, 42, pleaded guilty on March 28 to a felony charge of Manslaughter in the First Degree. The defendant was also sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.

On June 24, 2023, at approximately 11:12 p.m., the defendant and victim engaged in a verbal dispute that turned physical before being separated by another resident living in their multi-family home on Lexington Avenue in Mount Kisco. Minutes later, the defendant grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim four times throughout his body, including his chest.

The Westchester County Department of Public Safety arrested the defendant after responding to the scene.

The victim was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco and pronounced dead.

The case was before State Supreme Court Justice Larry Schwartz in Westchester County Court and prosecuted by ADAs Elizabeth Z. Marcus and Kevin Jones of the Trials and Investigations Division.
