Westchester Insider: Westchester County Board of Legislators: Press Release: Willson's Wave Pool is Now Open for 2023 Summer Fun.

Willson's Wave Pool is Now Open for 2023 Summer Fun.

White Plains, NY — Excitement fills the air as Willson's Wave Pool in Mount Vernon, along with all other County pools, officially opening its doors for the summer season on Friday, June 23. This marked a triumphant return for Willson's Wave Pool, which remained closed last summer due to ongoing repairs. However, throughout that time, the spray deck, aqua playground, and slides remained open for patrons to enjoy.

The extensive $3.3 million project undertaken to prepare the pool for the 2023 season involved several significant upgrades. These included the installation of a new pool slab, pool plaster finish, pool grating at the zero entry, pool tile, return and drain piping system, and a new underdrain system to manage groundwater effectively. Furthermore, improvements were made to the Spray Deck Feature, enhancing the "dancing waters" experience, and the Ultraviolet Disinfection System received an upgrade, as well. The wave pool, offering a graduated depth ranging from zero inches to six feet, provides six-minute intervals of thrilling three-foot waves.

Legislator Tyrae Woodson-Samuels (D – Mount Vernon) expressed his delight, stating, “Myself and Legislator David Tubiolo pushed to fast track this project to ensure our constituents will not spend another summer without Willson’s. This pool offers a much-needed haven for children and families during the summer months without the need to leave their own neighborhood. It brings me immense joy and relief to know that this community staple is fully open and operational for all to enjoy.”

“I am overjoyed to be a part of the reopening of our beloved community pool, a true testament to the power of investment and revitalization. I’ve always shared my love for this pool and the fond memories I’ll never forget, now through our partnership with the County Executive, new generations can do the same,” said Legislator David Tubiolo (D – Yonkers, Mount Vernon).

Willson's Waves will be open daily until Labor Day, Monday, September 4, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The last entry is at 6 p.m. Please note that proof of Westchester County residency is required, and regular admission fees apply. Additionally, parking fees will be in effect at The Brook at Tibbetts in Yonkers.

As the summer season kicks off, residents are invited to make a splash and relish in the refreshing experiences offered by the reopened Willson's Waves and other County pools. It is a time to create lasting memories, embrace the joys of community, and enjoy the diverse amenities provided by Westchester County.
