Westchester County Executive George Latimer Appoints Lisa Denig, Esq.
as Commissioner of Human Resources.
(White Plains, NY) – Westchester County Executive George Latimer has appointed Lisa Denig, Esq. as Commissioner of Human Resources. Denig has previously served in senior positions within the Office of Court Administration, the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, and as the Chief of Staff to the Putnam County Executive.
Latimer said: “Lisa Denig is a highly accomplished multi-discipline professional who has worked closely with the New York State Office of Court Administration and with the personnel supervision experience she brings while serving our neighbor Putnam County, we are sure that she will serve our Human Resources Department well in her new role as Commissioner.”
Denig said: "I am especially grateful for the confidence County Executive George Latimer and his team have shown in providing me this opportunity and I look forward to working with the experienced professionals that make up the Human Resources Office. I'm confident that my experience dealing with personnel issues as Chief of Staff in Putnam County as well as my legal education and training will provide me with a solid base to confront the issues and challenges that make up the new, post-pandemic employment landscape.”
Denig received her Juris Doctorate from Pace University School of Law and her Master in Public Service from the University of Arkansas. As Chief of Staff to the Putnam County Executive, Denig managed over 500 County personnel and supervised 20 County departments as well as being responsible for negotiating union contracts and handling personnel grievances.
The Westchester County Department of Human Resources maintains detailed employment records for more than 30,000 employees across 121 local jurisdictions, including cities, towns, villages, school districts, fire districts, Westchester Medical Center, and libraries. Annually they conduct 2,500 pre-employment background checks. They are staffed by a team of 45 professionals who implement myriad programs including an online performance appraisal system, a state-of-the-art civil service examination management system, a countywide Telework Program, a comprehensive decentralized continuous recruitment testing program, automated workflow approval processes as well as re-engineering civil service administration.
