COUNTY EXECUTIVES FROM WESTCHESTER, ROCKLAND, PUTNAM, ORANGE, DUTCHESS AND ULSTER COUNTIES EXPRESS CONCERNS OVER HOLTEC'S DECISION TO RELEASE TREATED WASTEWATER FROM INDIAN POINT ENERGY CENTER INTO HUDSON RIVER IN MAY.
The County Executives from Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess and Ulster Counties, in response to Holtec International's recent announcement that it will begin releasing treated wastewater from the shutdown Indian Point Energy Center nuclear power plant into the Hudson River next month, express serious concerns and call for the plan to be suspended.

The County Executives are urging Holtec to suspend their current plan and hold continued conversations on this decision and any subsequent actions that may be taken in order to ensure that residents are best protected. Holtec's plan to release treated wastewater from the Indian Point Energy Center Nuclear Power Plant into the Hudson River next month has caused significant concern among the residents.
The County Executives from Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess and Ulster Counties are urging Holtec to act with caution and to prioritize the safety and well-being of the local communities. They request that Holtec and other parties involved in the decommissioning process engage in continued dialogue with the Counties and other stakeholders in order to ensure that all concerns are heard and that the most appropriate decisions are made.
