County Legislator Vedat Gashi Officially Announces Launch of Reelection Campaign.
Yorktown, NY (March 14, 2023) - Sunday, at the Gramercy restaurant in Yorktown Heights, before a large crowd of family, friends, and local labor and community leaders, Vedat Gashi officially announced his campaign for reelection to District 4 of the Westchester County Legislature. District 4 includes the Town of New Castle, as well as parts of the Towns of Ossining, Somers, and Yorktown.
“It has been my great honor to represent the people of Westchester and I am committed to working hard every day to improve their quality of life,” said Legislator Vedat Gashi. “I am proud of my track record of success in advocating for my constituents and delivering results - with your support I will continue to do so.”
Gashi is an experienced leader with a deep understanding of the issues facing the residents of Westchester County. He has a strong record of working with all levels of government to achieve results and is committed to listening to the needs of his constituents and delivering solutions that address their concerns. He has already garnered the unanimous endorsements of the Ossining Democratic Committee, the New Castle Democratic Committee, the Somers Democratic Committee, and the Yorktown Democratic Committee.
During his tenure as a legislator, Gashi has been a strong advocate for supporting small businesses, rebuilding our aging infrastructure, and protecting the environment. As Chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, Gashi oversaw the passage of a balanced budget that cut the county property tax levy for the 4th consecutive year. Gashi has championed year-round inflation relief, with a gas tax holiday during the summer months and a break for sales tax on residential home heating oil during the winter months. He was also the main sponsor for a bill extending a tax exemption for seniors and persons with disabilities.
“We have worked hard to strengthen Westchester County’s financial position and will continue to do so, but we also recognize that many families are still struggling. We are going to continue to do everything in our power to help those families. The people of Yorktown, Somers, New Castle, and Ossining deserve a transparent, inclusive, and responsible government; a government more concerned with delivering results than engaging in partisan bickering,” said Gashi.
Gashi is a longtime resident of Yorktown where he lives with his wife and their two young children, who attend Yorktown public schools. Gashi is himself a graduate of Lakeland High School, as well as Connecticut College and Seton Hall Law School.
