Hudson River Museum Lunar New Year Festival.
Saturday, February 18, 12-5pm.
Kick off the Year of the Rabbit with traditional Asian arts, crafts, demonstrations, and performances for all ages! Celebrate the fourth of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac, and, according to Chinese culture, the luckiest animal of all! Festivities begin with the colorful ceremonial Lion Dance. Make Chinese knots, posters, and cut paper decorations in our family art workshops. Engage in calligraphy demonstrations and lessons in origami (paper folding). Enjoy performances of Chinese folk dances, a Chinese dulcimer concert, and a Tai Chi demonstration. A small-hand drum dance by the New York Korean Performing Arts Center rounds out the afternoon’s program. At 2pm, enjoy a special showing of The Sky Tonight: The Skylore of China, that features traditional Chinese constellations.
All workshops and performances are free with general admission. Planetarium shows are ticketed. Please note, Glenview historic home tours have been cancelled.
