The 73rd Annual Westchester County Cheerleading Invitational Returns to Somers High School.
(Ardsley, NY) - Cheerleaders representing high schools and middle schools from Westchester and surrounding counties will compete during the 73rd Annual Westchester County Cheerleading Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Somers High School, in Lincolndale.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer said, “Cheerleading has long been considered an iconic American activity symbolizing athleticism, school spirit and leadership. Cheerleaders are positive role models for others in our classrooms and communities. I applaud these young athletes for their determination and teamwork.”
Westchester County Parks Commissioner Kathy O’Connor said, “Cheerleaders support the success of others while promoting school spirit and set the example for behavior during sporting events. Now it’s your turn to root for the cheerleaders at the 73rd Annual Westchester Cheerleading Invitational.”
Competitive cheer squads will be judged on their jumps, tumbling, partner stunts, pyramids/basket tosses, choreography, timing, projection and the difficulty of their routines. Doors open at 9 a.m.
The Westchester County Cheerleading Invitational is sponsored by Westchester County Parks and Westchester Parks Foundation.
Somers High School is located at 120 Primrose Street in Lincolndale. Parking is free.
