WESTCHESTER COUNTY ANNUAL SLAM DUNK SHOWCASE 2023 AND CRUSADER CLASSIC PARTNER FOR ONE DAY EVENT AT IONA UNIVERSITY.
(Ardsley, NY) – The 2023 Slam Dunk Showcase and the 5th Annual Crusader Classic will feature five highly competitive high school match-ups on Saturday, Jan. 7 at Iona University in New Rochelle.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “Basketball is more accessible to the general public than any other sport. It is as enjoyable to play as it is to watch. Here’s an opportunity to gather your family and friends to witness and cheer on a new generation of future basketball stars as they compete in a series of entertaining rivalries.”
Westchester County Parks Commissioner Kathy O’Connor said: “We are excited to host ten stellar high school teams at this mega basketball competition. Combining these two elite events into one premiere showcase will provide an exciting day of high school basketball and excellent exposure for the schools and players involved. The County would like to thank Archbishop Stepinac High School and the Crusader Classic for their partnership in making this event possible, which has become a must-see event on the local high school basketball scene.”
Michael O’Donnell, Archbishop Stepinac High School Athletic Director said, “We are very excited to be able to play this game on a college campus and a larger venue each year. The partnership with the prestigious, Slam Dunk event and the Crusader Classic will make for a great day of basketball for the area and the state. We thank Iona, its athletic department and staff for working with us to make this happen.”
Patrick Massaroni (Class of ’06), who has been Archbishop Stepinac High School’s Head Basketball Coach for the past eight years, said, “The Crusader Classic has become a tradition in the area to kick off the new calendar year. Partnering with the Slam Dunk Showcase this year will expand the event from a single game to a five game showcase that includes girls and boy’s teams who are ranked both locally and statewide. We are very excited for a great day of basketball."
