WHITE PLAINS, NY – Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that two Peekskill residents were indicted in connection with a July 2022 shooting that injured two people in Peekskill.
The 17-year-old Adolescent Offender and Shaynna Session, 18, were both indicted by a Westchester County Grand Jury for two counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, all violent felonies.
The Adolescent Offender was arraigned before Judge Helen Blackwood in the Youth Part on September 12, 2022, and Session was arraigned before Judge Robert Prisco in Westchester County Court on September 16, 2022. The Adolescent Offender is being held without bail and bail was set for Session.
It is alleged that on July 29, 2022, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Adolescent Offender, while acting in concert with Session, fired approximately 14 gunshots at a vehicle on Main Street in Peekskill, striking the vehicle and the two passengers inside. It is further alleged that Session provided the loaded gun to the Adolescent Offender immediately prior to the shooting.
The victims were transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, where they underwent emergency treatment.
The Peekskill Police Department arrested the Adolescent Offender on August 3, 2022, and Session on August 5, 2022.
The case is being prosecuted by Major Case Bureau Chief Nadine Nagler of the Trials and Investigations Division.
The charges against the defendants are merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
