Westchester Insider: Election Desk 2022 News: Scalise Endorses Lawler for Congress in NY-17.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: HOUSE REPUBLICAN WHIP STEVE SCALISE ENDORSES

LAWLER IN NY-17 PRIMARY.

Joins GOP House Leader McCarthy, New York Republican and

Conservative Parties in Endorsing Lawler for Congress.

NY-17, August 22…Republican House Whip Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) has endorsed

Hudson Valley Assemblyman Mike Lawler in his race for Congress in New York’s 17th

District, it was today announced. The 17th district includes all or parts of Westchester,

Rockland, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties.

RealClearPolitics rates NY-17 as a “Toss-Up” in November’s General Election, which

will likely pit Assemblyman Lawler against controversial Democratic Congressional

Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chairman Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney.

“Assemblyman Mike Lawler has my strong endorsement both in the August 23rd

congressional primary and in November’s general election,” Congressman Scalise said.

“Mr. Maloney and Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi just raised taxes on New

York’s middle class — while also hiring 87,000 new IRS agents to squeeze every last

dime out of us — and that’s not what struggling Hudson Valley families bargained for.

Mike Lawler understands that New Yorkers need economic relief in this inflationary

environment, and as a key member of the Republican Majority in Congress next year,

he’ll deliver it.”

Rep. Scalise's endorsement comes on the heels of Republican House Leader Kevin

McCarthy’s endorsement of Assemblyman Lawler, and endorsements for Mr. Lawler

from the New York Republican and Conservative Parties. Mr. Lawler is designated as

‘On the Radar’ by the National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) ‘Young

Guns’ program.

“I’m deeply grateful to Congressman Scalise for his confidence in my candidacy,”

Assemblyman Lawler said, “and I look forward to being a proactive part of the

Republican majority in Congress next January. Hudson Valley families literally can’t

afford another Maloney-Pelosi term; they badly need crime and economic relief from

Washington, and I’ll work day and night as a congressman to get it for them.”
