Alessandra Biaggi Blasts Sean Patrick Maloney for Skipping Environmental Forum — Third Skipped in Under Two Weeks.
“It’s no surprise that Mr. Maloney is avoiding his environmental record — his votes in favor of the Keystone Pipeline are indefensible”
Maloney received over $65,000 from fossil fuel industry — Biaggi does not accept fossil fuel donations.
WESTCHESTER, NY — In response to Sean Patrick Maloney’s refusal to attend tomorrow evening’s Environmental Candidates Forum for Democratic candidates in Congressional District 17, after skipping the Ossining NAACP forum and the Westchester-Putnam Indivisible Forum, Alessandra Biaggi released the following statement:
“Once again, Sean Patrick Maloney is running from his record. Tomorrow’s Environmental Candidates Forum is an important opportunity for New Yorkers in NY-17 to hear our visions to address urgent environmental issues and tackle climate change. Unfortunately, Mr. Maloney is refusing to attend this forum — the third forum my opponent is skipping in under two weeks.
“It’s no surprise that Mr. Maloney is avoiding a conversation about his environmental record. His votes in favor of the Keystone Pipeline, his support for new fossil fuel infrastructure, and the thousands of dollars he has taken from the fossil fuel industry are all indefensible.
“I look forward to an open and honest conversation with residents of NY-17 tomorrow about how we can take bold, immediate action to protect our climate. It’s unfortunate my opponent isn’t willing to join me.”
Background:
Maloney has received more than $65,000 from the fossil fuel industry. Alessandra Biaggi does not accept money from the fossil fuel industry.
In 2014, Maloney was one of only 31 House Democrats to vote with Republicans for the Keystone XL Pipeline.
In 2015, Maloney was one of only 28 House Democrats, and the only Democratic member of the New York delegation, to vote with Republicans for the Keystone XL Pipeline.
Maloney threatened Congressman Mondaire Jones’ office for opposing new fossil fuel infrastructure.
Maloney supported the controversial Catskills Competitive Power Venture gas-fired power plant, which has drawn significant environmental opposition.
