FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: LAWLER: JOSE ALBA AN OBVIOUS SELF-DEFENSE CASE.
Silence from Pelosi Lieutenant Sean Patrick Maloney Speaks Volumes,
NY-17-July 11…Clear video evidence shows that Manhattan bodega worker Jose Alba was defending himself from the physical attack of a career criminal, and the preposterous murder charges leveled against Mr. Alba by controversial Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg must immediately be dropped,” Assemblyman and congressional candidate Mike Lawler (NY-17) today said.
Assemblyman Lawler also demanded to know the position of Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney on the matter. Mr. Maloney, who has been one of nation’s chief advocates for weakening bail and sentencing laws — Maloney supported no-cash-bail which has wrought havoc on New York’s Streets — has remained mum as Mr. Alba faces years in prison simply for defending his own life. New video evidence - https://nypost.com/2022/07/10/video-shows-how-nyc-bodega-worker-jose-alba-may-have-been-stabbed/ has emerged showing that Mr. Alba was seemingly stabbed during the attack by his male assailant's girlfriend.
“Joe Alba is a hardworking bodega employee who was violently attacked by a man with a long string of criminal offenses,” Mr. Lawler said. “Had he not defended himself, he might very well have been another sad New York murder statistic, and he has every right to fight for his own life.
“But to Sean Patrick Maloney, who said that liberalizing bail and criminal prosecution laws would be his top priority during his failed 2018 Attorney General run, it’s only the criminal who matters. Just look where that thinking has gotten us in New York,” Mr. Lawler said.
Assemblyman Lawler challenged Mr. Maloney to join him in calling for charges against Mr. Alba to be dropped today.
New York’s 17th Congressional District encompasses all or parts of Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, and Putnam counties.
