MOUNT VERNON MAN SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS TO LIFE FOR SETTING EX-GIRLFRIEND’S APARTMENT ON FIRE.

White Plains, NY -- Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that Mount Vernon resident Tony Clark was sentenced for starting two separate fires in the apartment of a former partner, which caused the entire apartment building to be uninhabitable.

Clark, 39, was sentenced on March 8, 2022, to 16 years to life in state prison after his plea of guilty to Attempted Arson in the Second Degree, a violent felony. The defendant is a persistent violent felony offender.

On August 20, 2020, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Clark used lighter fluid to start two separate fires in each bedroom inside the victim’s Mount Vernon apartment. The entire building, which contained several apartments, was evacuated due to the fire, and Mount Vernon Police removed Clark from the apartment and arrested him.

The entire apartment building suffered extensive damage caused by the fire and has been condemned.

The case was before Judge Susan Cacace in Westchester County Court, and was prosecuted by Domestic Violence Deputy Bureau Chief Janelle Armentano and Assistant District Attorney Christine Paska.
