Westchester Insider: Westchester County Legislator Erika Pierce 2nd District: Honoring Rev Kym McNair on Women’s History Month.

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

On Monday, Bedford’s Rev. Kym McNair was recognized by the Westchester County Women’s Advisory Board with their Above and Beyond Award for her hard work and dedication to Westchester County.  Rev. McNair was one of 17 women so recognized -- one from each Legislative District. While District 2 is home to many amazing women, Rev. McNair truly is a stellar member of our community and worthy of this honor.  For those of you who don’t know Rev. McNair, I hope you will read more below about this amazing community member.

Rev. McNair is currently the Director of Social Transformation at My Sister’s Place, a domestic violence agency in Westchester County where she develops and facilitates training to help recognize and respond to domestic/ intimate partner violence. Rev. McNair is also an anti-racist trainer through the Peoples Institute for Survival and Beyond, and has spoken on panels and facilitated conversations across Westchester County and across the United States. Locally, Rev. McNair serves on Bedford’s Diversity and Equity Advisory Committee (IDEAC) and previously served on Bedford’s Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative Committee. Rev. McNair was ordained in 2014 and has also worked with CONNECT Faith and Children of Combahee, fighting against child sexual abuse within the church.

Thank you Rev. McNair for all you have done and continue to do in our community and the communities beyond. For a short video featuring all the awardees, click here.

Sincerely,
Erika Pierce
Legislator, District 2
