The New York Mets have acquired All-Star right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for minor leaguers right-handed pitcher J.T. Ginn and right-handed pitcher Adam Oller.
Bassitt was named to the American League All-Star team and finished 10th in the Cy Young voting last year. The 6-5, 217-pounder went 12-4 with a 3.15 ERA (55 earned runs/157.1 innings) and 159 strikeouts in 27 starts. Bassitt led the AL with a .750 winning percentage. He was leading the AL in wins (12) and innings (151.0) before he missed a month of the season when he was hit in the face by a line drive on August 17. Bassitt returned to the mound in late September to make two starts.
