Westchester County Legislator Kitley Covill: Apply for Home Energy Assistance.

THE HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) helps low-income people pay the cost of heating their homes and apartments. The HEAP regular enrollment period opened earlier this week, on Tuesday, November 12.

If you are eligible, HEAP will help you pay for your utilities. To receive non-emergency HEAP support, you must complete an application. Applications take approximately 30 days to process and winter temperatures have arrived early, so please complete your application as soon as possible. Applications can be completed online, in person or can be submitted through the mail. More information can be found here: http://socialservices.westchestergov.com/home-energy-assistance.

You may also be eligible for Emergency HEAP benefits if you are in danger of running out of fuel or having your utility service shut off later in the winter. You cannot, however, apply for Emergency support before January 2.
Questions regarding the HEAP program should be directed to:
Westchester County Department of Social Services Main Office
112 East Post Road, 5th Floor
White Plains, NY 10601
Phone: (914) 995-3333
Days Open: Monday – Friday

You can also contact my office for support by calling 914-995-2804 or emailing Covill@WestchesterLegislators.com.
