WESTCHESTER COUNTY EXECUTIVE GEORGE LATIMER STATEMENT ON EID AL-ADHA.
(White Plains, NY) – "I would like to wish all Muslims who are celebrating Eid al-Adha today a happy Eid Mubarak. It is on this holiday that Muslims pay tribute to the Prophethood of Abraham by performing acts of sacrifice, charity and praying for those in need. Eid al-Adha also marks the end of the pilgrimage of Hajj performed each year by millions of Muslims of all ages and backgrounds, who journey from all corners of the world to Mecca as a testament to their faith. The pilgrimage of Hajj honors the devotion of Abraham to God, and serves as a reminder of the shared Abrahamic roots of Islam, Judaism and Christianity. We can all celebrate the holiday’s tradition of aiding the poor, the sick, the oppressed and those in need. Eid Mubarak and Hajj Mubarak.”
