UAW ENDORSES ALESSANDRA BIAGGI FOR CONGRESS IN NY 17.

The United Auto Workers Union (UAW) Region 9A today endorsed State Senator Alessandra Biaggi for Congress in NY 17 in the August 23 Democratic primary.

“Our members need a fighter in Congress who represents us, not the big money special interests. Alessandra Biaggi stood with us in Albany and we know she will stand with us in Washington on raising the federal minimum wage, making drugs affordable, fighting against climate change and creating living wage green jobs, and protecting and expanding the right to unionize,” said UAW Region 9A Regional Director Beverley Brakeman.

“I’m particularly honored to have the support of the UAW, a union that has always been a leader in fighting for working people. One of the reasons for growing inequality is the destruction of unions. I’m inspired by the grassroots efforts of Amazon, Starbucks and other workers to unionize and will always be a champion for the right to join a union,” Sen. Biaggi said. 

UAW Region 9A covers eastern New York (including the New York City metropolitan area, the Hudson Valley and the Capital District area), Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Puerto Rico. Region 9A is a diverse region representing a variety of workers, including legal services attorneys and support staff, auto technicians, graduate student workers and postdoctoral researchers, light manufacturers, casino dealers, and more.
