Westchester, NY - Cynthia Nixon, activist, actress and former Gubernatorial candidate, today endorsed State Sen. Alessandra Biaggi in the August 23 Democratic primary for Congress in New York District 17, which covers all of Rockland and Putnam Counties and parts of Westchester and Dutchess Counties.
"The voters of NY-17 have a clear choice – an establishment politician and D.C. insider who is part of why Washington is broken, or Alessandra Biaggi, a fierce fighter who changed Albany and delivered on critical issues that had been held up for years, including protecting abortion rights, expanding voting rights, addressing climate change, and more. The issues we face are much too important to keep a representative who puts his corporate donors and special interests first. Let's send Alessandra Biaggi to Washington to fight for us," said Cynthia Nixon.

Senator Biaggi is a Democratic State Senator and a proven winner. In 2018, she defeated the powerful head of the group that kept Republicans in power to put Democrats back in control of New York’s State Senate. Since taking office, Senator Biaggi has been working to create a more equitable New York, delivering wins for working families and paving the way for progressive Democrats to run for office and win.
