By all indications, the Trump-packed Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe this summer. A few weeks ago, an attorney representing the state of Mississippi stood before the Supreme Court asking the Court to do exactly that. Make no mistake—6 Supreme Court justices indicated their willingness to end Roe. Their concerted campaign against our constitutional right to abortion is real.
Many states have already put “trigger” laws in place that will immediately go into effect when Roe is overturned, outlawing all abortion. Abortion will likely become illegal in 26 states or more. Over 40% of people able to become pregnant will see their nearest abortion clinics close, with Black people, Indigenous people, and working-class people of color being hit the hardest. (That's more than 36 million women of reproductive age!)
To kick off their push to ban all abortion in as many states as possible, these anti-choice extremists are organizing demonstrations in Washington, D.C. and locally across the country, on January 21 and 22nd.
We will not capitulate! Here in New York, Choice Matters is ready. We are prepared to fight back—to stand up and stand strong. We will protect our clinics and their patients, and we will take our message to Congress.
Can we count on your help? Will you chip in to help us fight back to protect abortion rights?
With your help, we are pushing forward. It is time to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act. (WHPA) With your help, we did it in the House. Now it’s time for the Senate.

In December, the Supreme Court refused to block Texas’s blatantly unconstitutional ban on almost all abortions, which in effect allows Texas to override the U.S. Constitution and deny a fundamental right. Texas’s extreme abortion ban makes clear: we must demand a federal law that helps protect the right to abortion in every state. The time for WHPA is NOW.
With your help, we will confront these dangers head-on, and keep battling no matter what the court rules next June.
Please make a donation now and join us in this fight.
